Kirk Kelley is in his first year as head coach of Eastern baseball. Kelley began his 19-year storied coaching career at Allen County Community College in 1988, where he served as the hitting and infield coach and also coached third base. He then moved to Northwest Missouri State University, where he was the infield coach until 1990. From 1990-1991, Kelley worked as a talent scout for the Baltimore Orioles, providing names of athletes from Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. In 1991, he returned to the college game, serving as the infield coach for the University of Memphis.

In 1992, Kelley began a long career at Lyon College, where he started the baseball program while serving as both head coach and athletic director. While at Lyon, Kelley appeared in three Regional Tournaments, had two teams achieve a national ranking in the top five, coached over 50 All-Conference players, five All-Americans, one Rawlings National Gold Glove Winner and one Conference and Regional Player of the Year.

In 2009, Kelley took over as head coach and AD at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. During that time, the team claimed the 2011 NCCAA National Championship and Kelley was named the 2011 NCCAA National Coach of the Year. He also coached two All-Americans, the NAIA-MCAC Pitcher of the Year, MCAC Freshman of the Year and an NCCAA World Series MVP.

In 2011, Kelley took the associate head baseball coach job at the University of Central Arkansas. While there, his team set the school record for wins, were the 2013 Southland Conference Tournament Champions and a runner up in the 2013 NCAA Regional Tournament.

In 2013, Kelley returned to Lyon College to establish the first intercollegiate football program in the history of the school. However, his love of the game of baseball saw his return as he accepted the head coaching position at Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Kelley received his bachelor's degree from St. Mary of the Plains College and his master's degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University.
